SUMMARY:Social Justice Action Presentation: Short-Term Hosting of Immigrant Families
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is invited for our monthly free lunch after coffee hour in the Alliance Room. UU Rev. Kathleen McTigue will speak about her experiences with short-term hosting of small immigrant families who are desperate for privacy and support. The state’s 7\,500-person cap on sheltering homeless families and immigrants has left 750 people with small children struggling in large\, inhumane spaces and without privacy.

SUMMARY:Boston Pride
DESCRIPTION:FUUSN IS GOING TO BOSTON PRIDE AGAIN! \nBefore COVID\, FUUSN participated in the Pride Parade for decades – someone must know how long – and we’re going back on Saturday\, June 8th! \nWe have a registered team\, at least 20 interested folx\, and are figuring out logistics. Some will meet at Arlington Street Church at 8:45 for pre-parade worship\, or go in together on the train. Some will carpool or ride-share from FUUSN or from someone’s home and meet at Copley Square at 9:00. We will carry a banner and dance in the streets with bubbles and percussion (maybe). Looking for fun ideas! \nIt’s only 1.7 miles from Copley Square to Boston Common. \nPlease read more at bostonprideforthepeople.org before you ask any questions\, and respond to Jacki Rohan at rainbow-umbrella@fuusn.org with a firm commitment and number of family and friends. The first 25 folx will automatically be on the team. After that we need additional team captains to be trained; our absolute max is 75 humans.

SUMMARY:Inciting Joy
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Parisa Parsa \nWe celebrate the theme of renewal with meditations in word and song on the things that bring us joy\, tracing them all the way back to their beginnings as Ross Gay does beautifully in his book Inciting Joy. Creation Dance will offer their movement meditation on renewal and sources of joy\, and we will lift up memories of those who have passed in our monthly ritual of memorial candles. Our offering will benefit the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute’s Mother’s Day Walk for Peace.

SUMMARY:Surrender and Change
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Parisa Parsa \n \nWe often think of change as something we are responsible for initiating\, controlling\, and completing. Attending to transformation\, however\, requires an interesting relationship between active work and letting go. How can practices of surrender help us arrive at the transformation we seek?
