Everyone is invited for our monthly free lunch at noon at the Unitarian Universalist Society, 1326 Washington Street, West Newton. Chloe-Rose Crouch will speak about her work as manager of operations at the Community Day Center of Waltham. Many volunteers from Newton support the center’s programs with their time or warm clothing and other needed supplies. The Center provides day shelter and support services to adults who are experiencing homelessness. Each year, CDCW houses an average of 24 people, holds 96 substance abuse recovery meetings, sends approximately 36 people to rehab and detox facilities, and sleeps 20 people from December-April at their Winter Night Program.
They strive to create a safe, judgment-free culture that is grounded in hospitality, compassion and mutual respect. They provide refuge and rest for those who need it, and support services to improve the lives of those in our community who are struggling. They need volunteers to join them as they work together to improve the lives of those who are experiencing homelessness. Whether it be through volunteering your time, donating goods or funds, or partnering with them, you can help to make a difference. They rely on the support of volunteers and donors to provide the help that’s needed for their guests to improve their lives.
